Bacon Factory

So she came from

Venezuela. Answered an online registration
form to come work in a bacon factory in
what’s my little one-horse town. 

Gave up completing her university program.
Didn’t know a stitch of English. Now after 4
years on the bacon assembly line she’s
almost English fluent. 

Said she’d had enough. Trump bombing the 
shit out of her country. With his artless blatant 
lie that Venezuela is secretly shipping drugs 
to the States.

How many decades now has Columbia been
moving coke to Miami? The big bully in the 
neighborhood. And we don’t have the 
collective backbone to stop it. Shame. Shame.

Ken Smith

Ken Smith’s interest in poetry started in late high
school. He obtained a BA in English Literature
from the University of Ottawa, Canada. Followed
by a diploma in Journalism. He has taught English
as a Second Language in South Korea. He also
served as an Instructor for local high schools and
for the alternative school. This is Smith’s third
self-published book of poems. The first one being
‘Songs of feminine innocence’ and the second one
‘Milk cans & cornflowers’.
